Media influence of technology on young teens?

I can't seem to find information where media often talks about the latest cell phones or ipods or whatnot, and that if you have it, it just makes you that much "cooler". I need to write an editorial and that's one of the things I need to talk about but can't quite seem to find information, I hope you can help !!!
