Why do only the Republicans who are hateful and racist get air time?

There are some good people out there in that party who should be leading that party and getting air time, i.e. Tom Coburn, Bill O'Reilly, Lindsey Graham, Ron Paul, even to some extent Mitch McConnell. But they always put out people like Rush, Sarah, Bachmann, and Boehner who just make them sound hateful and racist. I think if they put the first group of people out there they would have more votes and more people would respect the party. Just my thought as an independent voter.
